#370 George Allison ( Archibald AllisonArchibald Allison )

George was born 18 Aug 1792 in Centre Co., Pennsylvania. He died 28 Sep 1866 in Salona, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania. He was buried in Allison Cemetery, Spring Mills, Centre Co., Pennsylvania.

He is a farmer on the 1850 Federal Census and the 1860 Federal Census of Gregg Twp., Centre Co., Pennsylvania.

Notes from Barbara Seyler show him buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, Pennsylvania. However, his stone is found in the Allison Private Cemetery in Spring Mills, Pennsylvania.

An uncited, handwritten copy of George's will can be seen «here». It lists six children. Barbara Seyler's notes lists three in common (Ellen, Mary Jane and William) plus a Sarah Allison who is not listed in the will. Whether Sarah is a match for Margaret or Eliza, whom she doesn't list, I'm not certain. An alternative is that she had passed away by the time George wrote his will. I've left her as a separate child for now.

George married first #63341 «Unknown».

«Unknown» was born Abt 1788 in Pennsylvania. She died 1838.

George married second #367 Anna Catherine Seyler. She is the daughter of John Peter & Anna Catherine (Brosius) Seyler. She is an ancestor in the Seyler Line.

Anna was born 25 Jul 1805 in Hains Twp., Centre Co., Pennsylvania. She was baptised 1 Dec 1805. She died 1878 in Salona, Clinton Co., Pennsylvania. She was buried 11 May 1878 in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Lamar Twp., Clinton Co., Pennsylvania.

Barbara Seyler's notes show her baptized on 17 Nov 1805 in the Aaronsburg Church, Aaronsburg, Pennsylvania. The date given here is from a certificate of birth and baptism. This certificate was lovely, written and drawn by hand. Unfortunately, it passed out of the family into the hands of a collector some time back around the 1970s. I have only a bad copy sent to me by someone who had seen it.

It reads:

Miss Anna Catharine Seiler, a daughter of Mr. John Peter Seiler, and his wife Anna, born a Brosius, was born July the 25th 1805. This child was born in Hains Township, Centre County, State of Pennsylvania and baptised by the Rev. Ilgen, December the 1st 1805. Her sponsors were Henry Hain and his wife Sarah.

I would presume this is Rev. L. A. W. Ilgen, a prominent Lutheran minister in Centre Co. in the first quarter of the 19th century.
