#380 William Henry "Henry" Seyler ( Ellen Catherine AllisonGeorge AllisonArchibald AllisonArchibald Allison )

Henry was born 9 Dec 1861 in Pennsylvania. He died Feb 1945 in Reno, Washoe Co., Nevada. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Reno, Washoe Co., Nevada.

He is in the group picture «here».

William's birth year is 1863 in many sources, including the 1900 Census, but shows as 1861 on his grave marker. He appears on the 1870 census with his parents.

William headed out west as a representative selling flatware. He would lose contact with the family during these periods and his mother and sister, Mayme, would write letters trying to track him down. He was living in Montana at the time of his mother's death. He was living in Reno, Nevada at the time of his brother, Wilson's, death.

He kept a trunk in the attic of the family home with a saddle, cowboy clothes and gear in it. The Powers children loved to visit and rummage through the trunk to play with things.

I haven't found Henry on the 1880 Census yet. The best bet for 1900 seems to be W. H. Seyler, born Dec 1863 in Pennsylvania, living in Meyers Creek, Washington and working in a hotel.

By 1910 he was in Reno, Nevada, where he would be for the rest of his life. He is a carpenter in 1910 and a laborer in 1920. In 1930 he was a clerk with a wholesale tobacco firm. Ann, William and John are on the census with him. In 1940 Ann has passed away and he is a laborer for a construction company.

Henry married #67997 Emily Ann "Ann" Newnham.
