Archibald was born 15 Apr 1823 in Spring Mills, Centre Co., Pennsylvania. He died 15 Jun 1903 in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Archibald and his brother, Robert , started out in a covered wagon to seek their fortunes to the west. When they came to Maysville, Kentucky, they were quite impressed with the land. Robert said, "Archibald, this is where I stop and set me up a home." Robert's descendants still live in that area. Archibald went on and settled in Marietta, Iowa. He took up a homestead of 640 acres, which he cultivated until his death.
