Isaac was born 15 Sep 1846. He died 19 Dec 1917.

His name was sometimes spelled "Hauk." [Barnhart/Warter] occasionally lists him as Jacob, for example when describing Mary's descent. He is the brother of Suzanne Hawk, who married Jacob Barnhart.

He enlisted on 18 Feb 1864 as a private with Co. H, 102nd Pennsylvania Infantry, 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, 6th Army Corps. He found in the Battle of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania. He was wounded in the right hand by a shell fragment on 5 May 1864 during the Wilderness. He was discharged on 5 Jul 1865 at Braddocks Fields, Pennsylvania.

According to family legend, his great-grandfather, William J. Hawk, was in the American Revolution and his father, William Hawk, fought in the War of 1812.

He was a school teacher.
