John was born in Kirkmaiden, Wigtownshire, Scotland. He died.
Some sources gives his birth as Abt 1704, which would have put marriage at age 12. This is perhaps possible, but the age to marry without parental consent at that time was 14 for males and 12 for females. Further, Bisset-Smith notes that marriage at these young ages, "...was in practice almost unknown." Assuming that this is the correct John Kennedy (see the Introduction), I believe this birth date is in error.
