Melchor was born 1840 in Pennsylvania. He died 1899.
In 1880 Melchor was a merchant in Quincy Twp., Franklin Co., Pennsylvania. Melchor and David Knepper were influential in having the Standard Oil Co locate a pumping station along the Mount Alto Railroad on the farm in 1890. The pumping station was in operation for more than 50 years and was a showplace of the region with its beautiful lawn, pond etc.
