Benjamin was born 10 Sep 1816 in Brothersvalley Twp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. He was baptised 24 Nov 1816 in Berlin Evangelical Church, Brothersvalley Twp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. He died 3 Oct 1905 in Connellsville, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. He was buried in Berlin Cemetery, Pennsylvania.

Benjamin was an ordained Reformed minister from 1846-1901 in Wellersburg, Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. In 1850, he lived in Southampton Twp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania; no occupation was given. He studied theology under Reverend William Conrad in Hagerstown, Maryland. In 1860 and 1870, he was a minister in Wellersburg, Somerset Twp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. His real estate was valued at $400 and personal estate at $2000. For many years he was the only pastor in Somerset Co. and travelled far in Somerset and Bedford Cos. In 1900, they lived in Wellsburg.
