He studied theology under Reverend William Conrad in Hagerstown, Maryland. In 1860 and 1870, he was a minister in Wellersburg, Somerset Twp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. His real estate was valued at $400 and personal estate at $2000. For many years he was the only pastor in Somerset Co. and travelled far in Somerset and Bedford Cos. In 1900, they lived in Wellsburg.
