Henry taught school and then enlisted in Civil War, in Co. E, 133 Rgt Pennsylvania Volunteer Infanty; then as an Orderly Sergeant with Co. K, 5th Pennsylvania Volunteers, Heavy Artillery and later as a Lieutenant. He served three years as Deputy Sheriff under his brother. In 1870, Henry was a grocer in Somerset Twp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. In 1880, he was in Somerset Twp. He was County Treasurer in 1878 and Deputy Treasurer 1900-1902. In 1910, he lived with his son-in-law, John Rudolph.
