Amos was born 14 Apr 1841 in Berlin, Brothersvalley Twp., Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. He died 21 Nov 1935.

Amos served with his brother, Henry, in the Civil War as a corporal in Co. E, 133 Reg Pennsylvania Volunteers from 6 Aug 1862 to 26 May 1863. He was in the Battles of 2nd Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. He is listed on the 1883 pensioners list as receiving $8.00 per month for chronic diarrhea.

In 1870 and 1880, Amos lived in Somerset Borough. In 1870, he was a shoemaker. He was elected to House of Representatives in 1907 and 1909. They lived in Somerset, Pennsylvania. In 1900, Amos lived with only a servant, Maggie Metzller. In 1910, Amos lived in Somerset Co. and his mother-in-law, Lavina Friedline lived with him. In 1920, he lived in Somerset, Somerset Co. and Marian was his wife.

Amos married first #5467 Sabina Smith.
