Edwin studied medicine under Dr. H. Cooney of Bryan, Ohio and graduated from the Cincinnati School of Medicine. He began his practice in Eden, Ohio in 1864. He moved to Ligonier, Indiana in May of 1866 and practiced there until his death. In 1880, they lived in Ligonier, Perry Twp., Noble Co., Indiana. In 1897, he was elected to the lower house of the general assembly from Elkhart, Noble and Dekalb Counties. In 1900, they lived in Ligonier.
