Clair H. Mechling, 96, formerly of Youngwood (Whites Hill), died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. He was born Nov. 4, 1908, in Youngwood, a son of the late Allen W. and Gertrude Fisher Mechling. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Keslar Mechling; four brothers; and a sister. He is survived by two sons, Glenn C. Mechling, of Muncy, Pa., and A. Dale Mechling and wife, Rebecca, of Buford, Ga.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Youngwood. He was a former Westmoreland County tax collector, a milkman for Silvis Dairy, and a farmer. Friends will be received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at noon. Interment to follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.

She was born Jan 27, 1918, in Donegal, (Westmoreland Co PA) d/o the late Stanley and Pearl Hauger Keslar. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Gladys Roadman, Carrie Glotfely, Hazel Kettering, Leora Krieger and Lorna Roadman. She is survived by her husband, Clair Mechling; two sons, Glenn C. Mechling, of Muncy, and A. Dale Mechling and wife, Rebecca, of Buford, Ga.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She formerly worked at McCrory's department store in Greensburg, and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Youngwood and Whites Hill Garden Club. Friends will be received at the C.
