She was married twice before Charles. Her first husband, Mr. Painter, was Native American. They had a daughter, Viola Mae. Mr. Painter died around 1916 and Parthenia later married Mr. Sewell. They had a daughter, Mary Etta. On the 1920 census, she and her two daughters are living with her parents.
By the 1930 census she has married Charles and Viola Mae Painter is living with them, although Mary Etta Sewell is not.
