He is the son of Amos & Martha (Selby) Duvall.
He served in the Civil War from 30 Mar 1864 to 29 May 1865. For the next 3 years he fought in the Indian Wars in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. After being discharged, he returned to his farm, and later in life became a rural mail carrier and post master in Blackwater.
[Mercy I-98] lists him as being born in Anne Arundel Co., Maryland.
