Amos was born 11 Jul 1838 in Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania. He died 1917. He was buried in Union Cemetery, Greensburg, Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania.
At age 21 he left the family farm and went to Greensburg to work with his brother, Daniel, in the planing mill. He later returned to the farm, and after his mother's death in 1881, he bought it. In 1900 he sold the coal rights for his land and moved to Greensburg.
Amos married #16080 Sarah "Sally" Kepple.
