Jesse was born 17 Jan 1845 in Fairfield Co., Ohio. He died 10 Dec 1921 in Mt. Sterling, Madison Co., Ohio. He was buried in Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Madison Co., Ohio.
He served during the Civil War and was at the Battle of Guntown, Mississippi. He was taken prisoner and sent to Andersonville Prison, where he stayed for 10 months and 18 days.
After their marriage, they moved to Illinois, where he worked a farm for two years. They returned to Ohio, settling in Madison Co. In 1869, the moved to Perry Co., Ohio where he worked as a blacksmith. He returned to Madison Co by 1885 where he opened a general store, and was also the post master, rural route mail carrier, justice of the peace, and constable.
