Merrill was born 2 Feb 1905 in Thorn Twp., Perry Co., Ohio. He died 21 Feb 1969. He was buried in Thornville Cemetery, Thornville, Perry Co., Ohio.

He graduated in 1929 from Capital University in Columbus with a B.S. in Education. From 1929 to 1941 he was a coach and a teacher in the Thornville and Hebron schools. In 1935, he was Superintendent of Schools in Jersey, Ohio. From 1941 to 1951, he worked in the chemical department of Kaufman-Lattimer Co.

Carrie was born Dec 1911.

She is the daughter of Frank Burrie & Mary (Hoover) Fisher.
