Murray was born 31 Jul 1893 in Armstrong Co., Pennsylvania. He died 17 Sep 1980. He was buried in Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, Armstrong Co., Pennsylvania.

[Mercy I-98] variously lists his middle name as James and Jackson.

At age 15, he began working as a teamster for the Henry Shaffer Lumber Co. delivering lumber, first by horse and wagon, later by truck. He was also a yard man. He retired in the mid 1950s.

In 1917 he joined the Army, serving as a stretcher bearer in World War I. He also fought in the Battle of the Marne, and was decorated with several medals.

In 1945, he inherited his father's house where he lived until he died.

Murray married #35440 Caroline Dorothy May "Dorothy" Rice.
