He retired in 1990 after 24 years with Komatsu Dresser. He also had worked for Galen Kauble Masonry & Plastering, Swan Rubber and Baybrook Corp.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he received two Bronze Stars. He graduated in 1949 from Upper Sandusky High School; was a member of the North Salem Lutheran Church, where he was a council member; and was a member of the Carey VFW.
