[M] #59198 William A. Sindorf ( John SindorfSusanna TurneyAnna Elizabeth MechlingJohn Theobald "Dewalt" MechlingDiebold "Theobald" MechlingDiebold MechlingMartin Mechling )

William was born Jun 1866/1868 in Pennsylvania. He died 1934 in Pensacola, Escambia Co., Florida.

So far, the first we see William is on the 1880 census of Santa Rosa Co., Florida. He is living with Henry William Sindorf and is listed as a nephew.

This doesn't give explicit evidence of his being John's child. However, if we assume that his relationship isn't mis-reported in the census, John seems the only likely candidate as a father. William has the Sindorf surname and Henry's brothers had all died young, before William's birth date. It is possible that either Esther or Arabella had a child out of wedlock and their husbands did not want to take in the child, but less likely than John being the parent.

Note: If the census taker did make a mistake on the relationship, there is a child of the correct age on the 1870 census, a child of George & Elizabeth Sindorf. As I don't collect Sindorf information, I'm not sure what relationship exists between this couple and Henry.

If he is John's child, then he provides circumstantial evidence for his father being the John Sindorf who moved to Armstrong and Butler Counties in Pennsylvania. See his father's notes for more information.

Keeping in mind that this is a tentative linkage, I've moved William from a note on Henry's entry and added him into the tree in order to capture his own family that appear in later censuses.

He appears again on the 1885 Florida Census, still living with Henry and Amelia and still listed as a nephew.

On the 1900 Census of Baghdad, Santa Rosa Co., Florida he is listed as a day laborer and we get his birth date. He has been married to Mary Olive for twelve years and has four children. Baghdad is a census-designated area up the in panhandle of Florida, rather than a town. The sawmill seems to be the major industry of the area as most of William's neighbors are employed there with him.

On the 1910 Census, he's a carpenter in a saw mill. Mary has moved out of the house and two more children are born.

On the 1920 Census of Baghdad, he's now a miller in the saw mill. Molly is shown and, of the children, only Lois is still at home. Looking at the

By the 1930 Census, he has retired and the children have all moved out. He owns his home.

William married #59199 Mary Olive "Molly".

Relationship notes

They married Abt 1888.

Molly was born Feb 1870 in Alabama. She died 1946 in Orange Co., Florida.

In the 1900 Census, her name is given as Mary. Later censuses show it as Mollie or Molly until 1910, when it reverts to Mary.
