Dewalt was born 28 Sep 1772. He died 13 Mar 1858. He was buried in St. John's Black Oak Cemetery, McClure, Pennsylvania.
Sandra Lanham has speculated that Dewalt may be the child of Leonhard & Anna Elizabeth Steininger, fitting into the gap in children between Elizabeth and John.
She adds the following notes:
On 17 April 1789, “Theobald Steininger and Elizabeth, daughter of George Steininger,” witnessed the baptism of Theobold (sic) Kuntz in the Jordan Lutheran Church, Lehigh Co, PA (Jordan Lutheran Church Records). Dewalt was named as a resident of Beaver Township, then Northumberland Co, PA, in 1799 (George W. Wagenseller’s Snyder County Annals, Vol. I, 1919, pg 170). He is on the 1800 and 1810 census’ for Beaver Township, Northumberland, PA and the 1820 through 1850 census’ for Beaver, Union County, PA., same place, just the counties changed). In 1808, “Davalt Steininger and Barb.” sponsored the baptism of Devaldt Briner, son of Jacob Briner and Ann Barbary, St. John’s Black Oak Ridge Parish Records, page 6, the church located in what is now Snyder County, PA).
The dates for his wives come from [Wagenseller]. Wagenseller reported both tombstone inscriptions as reading "wife of Theodore." No photo has been found of the first Barbara's grave marker. The photo of the second Barbara's clearly shows "Theobald" instead of "Theodore."
