On the 1880 Census of Lamar Twp. he is a fence maker.
On the 1900 Census of Lamar Twp. he is a carpenter and listed with the surname Rhyne. Catherine is no longer present and Harriet and Emma are living with him. This census showed that he had 13 children of which only seven are still alive. It's possible that William is the named child who has passed away at this point. We can account for four of the eight and three of the remaining are women who might have married and changed their names. William, however, has no great candidates on the census, the candidates being four to ten years older than we expect.
