#371 Ellen Catherine Allison ( Anna Catherine SeylerJohn Peter "Peter" SeylerJoseph Seyler )

Ellen was born 13 Sep 1840 in Pennsylvania. She died 1 Mar 1924 in Lamar Twp., Clinton Co., Pennsylvania from heart disease. She was buried 3 Mar 1924 in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Lamar Twp., Clinton Co., Pennsylvania.

She is in the group picture «here».

Her daughter's death certificate incorrectly gives her name as Mary E. Allison.

She appears with her parents on the 1850 Federal Census and the 1860 Federal Census of Gregg Twp., Centre Co., Pennsylvania.

She appears with James on the 1870 Federal Census and the 1880 Federal Census of Lamar Twp.

Her entry on the 1900 Federal Census of Lamar Twp., Clinton Co., Pennsylvania is interesting because it says she had nine children of which six were still living. However, at that point she had had 11 children with seven living: Wash, William, Elery, Anna, Samuel, Josephine and Mary. Only Wash, Elery and Mary are living with them at this time.

On the 1910 Federal Census and the 1920 Federal Census of Lamar Twp. Ellen is listed as the head of household. Her son, Wash, is living with her.

She started selling ice cream at fairs and picnics with her son, Wilson, and her daughters-in-law, Emma and Mae. Wilson eventually turned this into a business and they opened the first ice cream parlor in Salona and ran an ice cream truck.

Ellen married James Seyler
