Everett was born 6 Jan 1915 in Pennsylvania. He died 19 Mar 1977 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California. He was buried in Grand View Memorial Park, Glendale, Los Angeles Co., California.
The family all knew him as Everett. Later records seem to indicate that he started using his first name at some point after 1942.
On the 1920 census of Burrell, Pennsylvania and the 1930 census of Derry, Pennsylvania he is listed as Everett R. Deffler.
Everett appears on several military transport lists moving between New York, Hawaii, California and the Canal Zone in 1935. He is listed as a private. Several of these list the reason for travel as "Section V". Presumably, this is Section V of AR 615-360, the regulations concerning discharge from the military in that era. Section V is discharge for reasons of dependency. His father died in 1935, so his separation was likely to allow him to help his mother.
On the 1940 census we find him in Hillsborough County Jail, Tampa City, Hillsborough Co., Florida. His non-incarcerated place of residence is given as Waco, Hawaii.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 24 Jun 1942 at Greensburg, Pennsylvania. This record says that he had been discharged three months previously. It notes he was 5'7" and 141 pounds. At the time of enlistment he had completed two years of high school. His enlistment term was for the duration of the war and was in Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers.
Various newspapers of 15-16 Sep 1942 noted that Everett was charged by a Federal grand jury:
Everett R. Deffler of Derry charge with impersonating unlawfully a true and lawful holder of U.S. savings bonds amounting to $1,025. Deffler was charged with writing a letter April 24 to the Federal Reserve Bank at Philadelphia attempting to transfer bonds which Kenneth Dale Moore, of Derry R.D. 1, had certified payable upon his death to Marjorie Stouffer. Deffler said in the letter he was the husband of Marjorie Stouffer.
This is probably his first cousin, Marjorie. Everett ended up spending time in prison for this. Kenneth Moore was Marjorie's fiancé and a corporal in the Army.
From 1947-1949 he was in Washington (see the article below) working for Nash Motors.
In 1953 he transferred with Nash to Chicago.
City directories put Everett (as Roy hereafter) and Florence in San Antonio, Texas in 1955, still with Nash.
In 1960 they were in La Puente, California. Florence is listed without Everett, in 1961 in La Puente and in 1964 in El Monte, California. Everett is working at a Rambler dealership in 1964. Nash had acquired Hudson Motor Car Company and formed American Motors Corporation in 1954. Rambler was the upscale line for Nash and then AMC.
In 1957 he was a service manager with Henry Koopman & Sons, Inc. in Whittier, California.

She is the daughter of Abner D. & Grace E. (Watson) Walker.
She was previously married to a Mr. Wims and had at least one child, Michael D. Wims, born c. 1945. She arrived in New York on 13 Sep 1946 aboard the USAT Henry Gibbons with Michael. She and Michael flew to England in 1949 on Pan American Airways and returned aboard the RMS Caronia, the second of three ships by that name owned by the Cunard Line. Michael is noted as a United States citizen on a passenger list, while Rosemarie is still listed as British. In 1955, the two went back to England for a visit, departing 14 Aug 1955 aboard the USNS General Alexander E. Patch.
