#1953 Hannah White ( Andrew White )

Hannah was born Abt 1752 in Ireland. She died 21 Dec 1815 in Center Twp., Indiana Co., Pennsylvania.

Many genealogies list Wallace's Mill as being in Indiana Co., Pennsylvania. However, as best I can tell, it was in Westmoreland Co. The USGenWeb archives for Pennsylvania contain a history of Fort Wallace, "The Fort was erected on the farm of Richard Wallace, who was one of the first settlers of that part of Derry township in Westmoreland county, which lay between the old Forbes road and the Conemaugh river." It then goes on to note, "the old mill site of Wallace's Mill, which was within a stone's throw of the fort."

Indiana Co. wasn't created out of Westmoreland Co. until 1803, after the birth of Hannah's children.

[Schultz] lists another child of James & Hannah: Nancy Agnes Simpson, born 1775 in Pennsylvania, dying Aft 1837, married to Charles Gibson. It then goes on to detail some descent from them. The problem I have with this entry is that the only source listed is the 1807 land transfer from James Simpson to Andrew Simpson. It mentions that the property originally was warranted to Agnes. However, it gives the date of that original warrant as 11 Nov 1785 and I don't think a young girl of 10 would have been granted property. For now, I'm considering her a Simpson in-law and likely not a blood relative.

Hannah married #1954 James Simpson.

Marriage notes

They married 1772 in Pennsylvania.

James was born Abt 1750 in Scotland. He died Jun 1813 in Center Twp., Indiana Co., Pennsylvania.

The Wygant site has his birth place as Pennsylvania.

He is the son of Andrew & (possibly) Ann (West) Simpson. Andrew died on his farm. Some researchers put his death as 1815.
