#267 Berl "Ben" Relkin ( Avram "Nathan" Relkin )

Ben was born 15 Sep 1883 in Slutsk, Russia. He died.

See the notes under his mother.

The 1910 Census for Manhattan shows Ben married to Yetta with a sister-in-law, Ida Kantor, living with them. It shows his immigration year as 1903. Based upon the latter, I'm equating Ben with Berl Relkin. He arrived on 20 Nov 1903 aboard the ship Pisa out of Hamburg. It is hard to read the handwriting of the official but it appears that Berl's profession is tailor. His last residence was listed as Amgowitz. He lists that he is going to stay with his uncle David Kaminsky in New York City. We also see a Detention Record for that date for a "Brid Relkin" that he was held pending David Kaminsky's arrival. This was his second entry into the country. There is a passenger list from 17 Nov 1901 that shows a Berl Relkin, from Slutsk, Russia, of roughly the same age, arriving on the ship Statendam out of Rotterdam. He is going to stay with his uncle, D. Kaminsky.

Ben worked in a furniture store in 1910.

The 1920 Census of the Bronx moves his year of immigration to 1904. He has filed his initial paperwork for citizenship. He is a truck driver. Ida is still living with them.

On the 1930 Census of the Bronx, his year of immigration is back to 1903 and he is still a truck driver. Ida is still living with them.

On the 1940 Census of the Bronx, no information has changed except that Ida is no longer living with them. They have a lodger, Max Miller.

Ben married #279 Yetta Cantor.

Marriage notes

They married Abt 1907.

Other names for Yetta: Yetta Relkin.

Yetta was born Abt 1891 in Russia.

According to the 1910 Census, she immigrated in 1904, a year after Ben.
