Other names for Frederick: John Frederick Gettig◊.

Frederick was christened 30 Aug 1772 in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. He died 1835/1840.

Some researchers list him as John Frederick but, so far, I've seen him listed only as Frederick.

It's reasonable to make a guess that Frederick is the third male living with his mother on the 1790 Census for Sunbury but Frederick has proven elusive so far on the 1800 Census. There is a Frederick Gettig living in Penns Twp., Northumberland Co. but he is in the wrong age bracket, showing as over 45 years old as is the (presumed) wife. This is probably Frederick (#68565) who may be this Frederick's uncle.

He appears in Miles Twp., Centre Co., Pennsylvania on the 1810 Federal Census. There is a woman slightly younger than he, presumably Elizabeth, as well as a young boy and young girl.

Frederick then disappears again for the 1820 and later censuses.

Elizabeth was born 1785/1794. She died 1840.

The woman who is presumably Elizabeth was marked in the 16–25 column of the 1810 Federal Census, giving the range of birth years. She was probably extremely pregnant at census time: the official enumeration date was 6 Aug 1810 and Jacob was born three weeks later.
