#50584 James Thomas Sampson "Sampson" Amos ( Hamon AmosSarah Jane KnepperGodfrey KnepperJohn William "William" KnepperJohann Gottfried "Gottfried" KnepperClemens KnepperHans Peter KnepperTilmann Knepper )

Sampson was born 15 May 1899 in Sisson Twp., Howell Co., Missouri. He died 5 May 1988 in Martinsville, Indiana from cardiac arrest. He was buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, Morgan Co., Indiana.

The Amos source has the following:

After his mother died, he and his brothers were split up and went to live with other family members and Hamon left the state to go find work. The relatives Grandpa lived with couldn't afford to raise him so he was passed from one family to another. After a year or so of being passed around from family to family and often being mistreated, young Sam took off in search of his father. He traveled on foot, slept wherever he could, (barns, old sheds, or just under the stars), and finally found his father. His father then allowed Sam to stay with him for a few years until Sam could find work and support himself.

He worked in a local brick yard. Later he was a truck driver for A. O. Carter for several years. Sam and Marie live in Brooklyn for three months before moving to Martinsville.

Sampson married #50638 Marie Kent.
