In 1850, Jonathan was Justice of Peace in Brothers Valley Twp.. His real estate was valued at $250. Later he was High Sheriff of Somerset Co. and later Associate Judge. In 1861, he moved to Ashton, Illinois and, in 1862, to Dixon, Illinois and later Foreston, Illinois. Lastly, he moved to Wahoo, Nebraska where he lived with daughter Annie Lemaster.
