John was born 29 Oct 1895 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. He died 22 Apr 1960 in Groveport, Ohio. He was buried in New Tarlton Cemetery, Pickaway Co., Ohio.
He was a teacher and superintendent of schools in Groveport, Ohio. He was also a Major General in the Marine Corps in World War II and was decorated for outstanding performance in the war. He retired in 1956. After retirement, he was Director of the Ohio Bureau of Unemployment Compensation. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the American Legion, and a member of tghe Veterans of Foreign Wars.
