David was born 22 May 1799 in Spring Mills, Centre Co., Pennsylvania. He died 22 Dec 1877 in Marion Twp., Centre Co., Pennsylvania. He was buried in LIck Run Cemetery, Jacksonville, Pennsylvania.
He was born at home in the "Mansion House". He died at home.
David served, with his brothers, William and James, and a friend, James Potter, as executors of his father's estate.
He owned "vast acreage" in Marion Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania--about four miles from land owned by his Uncle Matthew Allison at Cedar Springs. His acreage was divided into farms for horses. On the 1870 Census, his property was listed as worth $47,400 and his personal possessions at $5,300.
On his own farm he built a 17 room red brick house which was intended to be a travellers inn, but was never used for that purpose. As each child grew to maturity, David settled a farm on them. This kept the family together.
David was a Republican and Presbyterian, but devoted most of his time to farming and the improvement of his buildings. His farm houses were still in good repair in 1966.
