George was born 19 Aug 1876 in Scott Twp., Kosciusko Co., Indiana. He died 16 Oct 1936 from a fall down the cellar steps. He was buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Prairie Twp., Kosciusko Co., Indiana.
He is the son of William & Ella C. (Lucas) Burt.
George was a farmer but lost his arm in a farm accident. He went back to school and became a teacher before he would marry Lela. He taught school eleven years and then returned to farming. In 1920 they lived in Atwood, Kosciusko Co., Indiana. Lela's mother lived with them. They purchased a rooming house in W Lafayette, Indiana for Purdue students.
