Decla was born 1 Jan 1811 in Franklin Co., Pennsylvania. She died 4 Feb 1893 in Warsaw, Kosciusko Co., Indiana. She was buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Warsaw, Kosciusko Co., Indiana.

Her name may have been Deakley.

After the marriage they lived in a tiny two room log house. Henry taught singing and was a plasterer. In 1840 they sold the Pennsylvania home and moved to Ohio, traveling by wagon to Wheeling, West Virginia and then by steamboat on the Ohio River. After three days they landed at Portsmouth, Ohio and loaded onto a canal boat. They settled in Pickaway Co., Ohio. In 1841 Henry and his brothers and father walked to Kosciusko Co., Indiana to select farming land. He purchased 80 acres in Prairie Twp., Kosciusko Co. but did not move until the fall of 1849. It took nine days to move Henry, his wife and eight children. They first lived in an abandoned schoolhouse while Henry built a log house. Later he built a modern home. In 1880 they lived in Prairie Twp., Kosciusko Co., Indiana. In 1900 Henry lived with son-in-law, Ritchard Ferguson and was listed as a landlord.
