#67021 Margaret Jane "Jennie" Boring ( Mary "Maggie" McAnultyJohn McAnultyMary SimpsonHannah WhiteAndrew White )

Jennie was born 25 Jul 1858 in Indiana Co., Pennsylvania. She died 21 Dec 1926 in Indiana, Indiana Co. Pennsylvania. She was buried in McDowell Cemetery, Clymer, Indiana Co., Pennsylvania.

On the 1880 Census her boys have the surname Boring. There are conflicting statements about which marriage had the daughters. An unsourced note in John Hovis Engle's entry in FindAGrave lists all four daughters as his but the copied obituary in that entry lists none of them. Henry Fronk's entry lists two of them as his, as do their own entries. The census seems to indicate they were all from the marriage with Henry.

Jennie was in a relationship with first #67032 «Unknown».

Marriage notes

Since the 1880 Census shows the children with the surname Boring, it's uncertain if Jennie married a Boring relative or had the children out of wedlock. If the former, I would assume that Mr. Boring died as they were soon adopted by Engle.

«Unknown» died.

Jennie married second #67038 John Hovis Engle.

John was born 21 Apr 1855 in Green Twp., Indiana Co., Pennsylvania. He died 4 Feb 1906 in Indiana, Indiana Co. Pennsylvania. He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana, Indiana Co., Pennsylvania.

He is the son of John & Rachel (Stevens) Engle. After Jennie, he married twice more.

An unsourced obituary includes the following. The text is clipboarded and I've left the typos in place.

The many friends of John Huvis Engle will be very sorry to hear of his eath which occurred at his home on School Street at 5:45 o'clock Sunday evening. After a long, hard fight for six weeks he succumbed to a simple continued fever with complications. Mr. Engle first took sick about the middle of last December. Dr. G. E. Simpson was summoned, and in a day or so . Dr. Purington was called in for consulation with Dr. Simpson. For sometimes Mr. Engle hovered between life and death, and then slowly improved for a time. Up until noon on Sunday, it was thought he was steadily improving, but about one o'clock he began to grow weaker and at 5:45, quietly passed away.

The deceased was born in Green township on April 21, 1855, and there spent part of his life, being engaged in lumbering. He was married to Miss Margaret Kerr, of Indiana.

In 1892 he moved to Indiana where he was engaged in the lumber business, having bought the lumber yards on Railroad Ave. and School street, which he conducted until he was taken sick. In 1894, two years after coming to Indiana, his wife died very suddenly. On July 31, 1901, Mr. Engle married Miss Clara E. Lapsely, of Blairsville, who survives him.

The deceased was one of the best-known and most successful business men of Indiana. Besides his lumber business, he was a stock-holder in the Woolen Mills, the Clymer Manufacturing Company, the Carriage Company, and The Robisnteen Horse Collar Company. He was also a director in the Saving & Trust Co., of Indiana.

Mr. Engle was a man who made friends of all who came in contact with him. Genial, yet unobtrusive, kind and unselfish to an exceptional degree, he had done more, possible, to put young men in the way of business and success than any other resident of Indiana. He had accumulated much valuable real estate and coal. He died possessed of a large acreage of timber land in the west.
