#55105 Abraham Daubenspeck ( Elizabeth Barnhart • Daniel Barnhart◊ • Johann Wilhelm "William" Bernhardt◊ • Casper Bernhardt◊ )
Abraham was born 6 Nov 1834. He died 1919.
Howard Barnhart writes:
Abraham was a cousin of my Gt. Grandfather and a double cousin to Gt. Grandmother, so my father visited them quite often. I remember Abe as a tall man, over 6 ft, with bushy white hair and a booming voice. When he died in 1919, I was coming 4 yrs of age. My father dug the grave in Fairview Cem., where he was buried with his wife and many of his children. Abe was called to service in the spring of 1865, but the war ended before he was assigned to a combat unit.
The "called to service" is unclear. In other accounts, Howard Barnhart writes that the three brothers, Daniel, Abraham and William, all accepted $300 to serve as replacement soldiers for men who had families. Abraham was the only one to survive.
