They lived in Ohio but he attended school in Michigan as their farm stretched across the border into Michigan. He graduated from the School of Pharmacy at Ferris College, Big Rapids, Michigan. He opened a drug store in Lyons, Ohio and also ran the farm.

Caroline was born 23 Mar 1893. She died 16 Sep 1977 in Morenci, Lenawee Co., Michigan.
